Top Gear Fake Ferrari
Its latest electric concept car bears more than a passing resemblance to the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 – which similarly aims to showcase a vision for an ultra-luxurious and enormous future grand tourer. However, JLR aren’t the first victims of Chinese automotive copyright infringement. Let’s at least have better pranks, funnier stars behind reasonably priced cars, women treated as equals, not novelties or poppets to be leered over, and less bigotry.
What happend to William Woollard, Is he still alive? I couldn’t believe that they trashed three seemingly sound modern classics. Who’s cars were they and who gave their permission for them to be wrecked? Presumably, all three had, until recently, been someone’s pride and joy.
Heres a thought, if you dont like it, dont watch it. The majority of viewers dont care about the minutia of the subject. And lets be fair, painting cars gastroenteritis brown doesnt help the cause much – if a dinosaur with the runs dropped a steamer on your drive, you’d be hard pressed to tell which was the car. The whole episode seemed rushed and ill-thought out. A waste of excellent cars and a waste of a huge country that could have been explored fully on a proper road trip.
Pause the roof part the way through the cycle in order to check the hydraulic rams for evidence of leaks. The suspension has two modes – normal and sport or sport and race . Drive the car in both modes and check for error messages on the dash. Carefully check for panel corrosion – the car is all aluminium so corrosion tends to manifest itself as bubbling under the paint surface. Ferrari F430 CCM BrakesThe F430 was supplied with a choice of the steel brakes as fitted to the 360 or with Carbon Ceramic brakes. The latter being 380mm diameter on the front and 350mm on the rear, as well as huge 6 pot calipers.
The Honda Civic Type R (because Ford’s engineers rightly recognise that it’s a marvel of fast front-wheel drive car-building, and is one of the best-handing hot hatchbacks ever made). As for me being a poor rider that crashes a lot, well, luckily I’ve not got tangled up in any of the big stacks yet, but in the series I race, I’ve seen 2 big pile ups that have resulted in a lot of very expensive carbon splinters. I don’t want my best bike involved in that, so for the crits, I use last season’s race bike with Ultegra wheels. The only time I can see it worthwhile to buy direct is if you are 110% certain it is from the same factory/same production line as a T1000/top end frame maker stuff. Near entire population of forum breaks down in to a seething mass fury, comparable to an Orwellian 2 minutes of hate, and spew forth bile about Chinese carbon. As an amusing point to this thread, one of my contacts at one of our carbon factories has announced she is leaving today and has cc’d not bcc’d all her contacts in her book.
If a 360 goes beyond the cambelt interval of three years without new belts then it is not a deal breaker in my opinion. However, one should factor in the price of changing the belts and tensioner bearings. This low interval is driven by the fact that these engines tend to spend their time at high rpm. The flat plane crank configuration gives off some very destructive vibrations at these speeds, coupled with the velocity that the belts and tensioners are moving means that the risk of failure increases if the interval is stretched out.
It was quite clear from the start that the banter was pretty good and that we had a very similar puerile sense of humour – and the motorcar is a very good medium for that. It was immediately apparent that it was going to be quite light-hearted. If there is some geekery that needs to be done, I can cover that off. But Fred and Paddy know more about cars than they let on – they’re very modest about that. I knew then that it would work between us.
Cat C/D cars are out there – their value is significantly reduced and will be difficult to sell on. Cars that have taken a heavy hit are also unlikely to ever drive correctly again. Be wary of cars that have had the battery run down. It’s not a deal breaker but great care should be taken when jump starting and a new battery should be fitted ASAP. Both models were supplied with the option of a tracker and most cars have one fitted.
I almost couldn’t look and actually said out loud at one point, ‘Please don’t do it’…. Re above, having checked my own taxed cars, their status says “Licence not due” so the Mini in the programme is dfinitely SORN’d. It may sound a bit Reithian for Clarkson et al, but I reckon it would be great if Top Gear could – once again – INFORM us about cars, EDUCATE us about cars and ENTERTAIN us about cars.
If a car needs a clutch replacement and continues to be driven around then there is a danger that the flywheel can overheat and begin to dish. The F1 system is hydraulically actuated – check for leaks where the actuators interface with the gearbox. Pump failure is not uncommon on the 360 – the relay wears out and the contacts can weld shut, forcing the pump to constantly run until it fails.
While father-of-three Paddy, 47, revealed that filming in the pandemic has meant he’s been able to spend more time at home with his autistic children and wife Christine. Since 2016, each season has been between five and seven episodes long, and have always been filmed with a studio audience, which will not be happening this time round. Freddie, Chris and Paddy were set a budget of £8,000 to purchase a car for the challenge, but Paddy went slightly over to buy his ‘Ferrari’. In a bid to rebrand this species of car, the presenters each bought themselves a definitely-not-at-all-tragic mid- life ‘opportunity’ for a series of challenges.
“It’s my favourite television show of all time,” Evans says, and it is a natural fit. He is a passionate petrolhead with a stable full of cars and his own annual event, CarFest, which raises money for Children in Need. The Grand Tour host owned six cars at the time and had “no choice” but to give up his Ferrari. It goes without saying that theVIN should be checked for outstanding finance or if they have ever been subject to an insurance write off.
A small joke could be funny but telling all the people in the word that cars from GB were the worst cars would not the best way to help the former british car manufacturers. I thought the tribute at the end said a lot – never before in their specials had the cars stood up so well to the conditions and the daft attempts to ruin them. James May has said before that he’s not comfortable with smashing cars up for no reason, which is probably why he got a Shadow, not the most sought after Rolls Royce and there are plenty of them around . It broke my heart to see the Mini and the XJS wrecked, both looked fantastic examples of last of the line models.
